The Profile of Assistant Pastor (Mrs) Aralola Surulola Faturoti

 

Assistant Pastor (Mrs) Aralola Surulola Faturoti is a native of Ondo town in Ondo State. She was born into the families of late High Chief Olaniyi Awosika the then Adaja of Ondo land and late Chief (Mrs) Comfort Awosika (Nee Fasehun) on 25th September 1938.

 

 

Her Educational Life

 

Assistant Pastor (Mrs) Faturoti started her primary school education in 1946 at the Saint Stephen’s Primary School, Ondo.  She later obtained a transfer to Anglican Girls’ Primary School, Ondo, where she completed her primary education in 1953.

 

In 1954, Mrs. Faturoti gained admission into Saint Louis Girls’ Grammar School, Ondo for her post primary education.  She finished from that same institution in 1959 in flying colours.  All the while, she was a prefect in her school.

 

After her post primary school, she was one of the eleven female Nigerian students selected for female science student pilot project in 1960.  It must be noted that there was scarcity of female science students in the Nigerian Universities as at the time.

 

She attended the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology, Ibadan from 1960 to 1962 for her advanced level certificate course in Pure Maths, Applied Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

 

After obtaining her Advanced Level Certificate, she proceeded to University of Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1966.

 

In 1971, Mrs. Faturoti attended Texas A and M University College USA, for an Advanced Certificate Course in Chemistry.

 

In 1977, Mrs. Faturoti attended University of Ibadan where she obtained a post-graduate Diploma in Education.

Her Career as a Teacher

 

Mrs. Faturoti has been a foremost Educator and Educational Administrator.  She taught Chemistry and generally science subjects in so many secondary schools across the Western part of the nation.  Some of these included: Ibadan Grammar School Ibadan, Saint Theresa’s College Ibadan, and Our Lady of Apostles’ College Ibadan.  In Lagos, her teaching career took her to the famous Igbobi College Yaba, Saint Gregory College, Anglican Girls’ Grammar School Surulere and Maryland Comprehensive College. She was to later teach in her Alma Matter-Saint Louis Girls’ Grammar School, Ondo, where she retired from the civil service in 1985 while serving as the principal of the school. (Incidentally, all her daughters attended St Louis Girls’ Grammar School).  Everywhere she taught she was known to be very strict, honest, hardworking and very disciplined.  The successful way many of her students have turned out testifies to this; all to the glory of God!

Educational Institutions Established with Dates

 

It must be stated here that beyond the fact that Mrs. Faturoti has been mightily used by God in establishing some educational institutions, it is on record that schools established by her have recorded very high academic performance, moral and spiritual standards.  Each of the institutions mentioned below are of very high and international standard.

 

  1. Saint Raphael’s Kiddies Nursery and Primary School, Ondo, established in April 1988.  Only six students were resisted in the school at inception.  This same school has since grown to become a rare kind of institution in the society.  The staff population is currently about eighty people.  The pupils are a little less than a thousand.  Saint Raphael’s Kiddies Nursery and Primary School located at 5 Brigadier Ademulegun Road Ondo has successfully won so many notable awards at the local, state and national levels.

 

  1. Hallmark Secondary School, Ondo, established in October 1995.  There is need to mention here that Hallmark Secondary School which is just thirteen years old as at October 2008, has successfully won many National and Continental Awards which have done Ondo town proud in particular and the country at large.

 

  1. Hallmark Tutorial College Ondo, was established in the year 2004 to prepare students for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination, and Overseas Specialized Examinations such as SAT and TOEFL.

  • Award of honour for Excellence in Discipline and Moral Development of children, by Emmanuel World Children Foundation.

 

  • Award of Excellence for Private Participation in Education - by FUTA Staff Secondary School Management 2005.

 

  • Award of Excellence - National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) November 2006.

 

  • National Association of Ondo State Students: Distinguished Persons Award 13th December 2006.

 

  • Nigeria Union of Journalist, Ondo State Council: Distinguished Personality Award 15th December 2006.

Her Christian Life / Socio-Cultural Affiliation

 

Assistant Pastor Mrs. Faturoti is a practicing Christian, a hard working minister of the gospel.  Mrs. Faturoti has always had a passion and burden for prayer and intercessions most especially as it relates to the spiritual emancipation of her home town, Ondo town.  This made her join the Intercessors for Nigeria and Africa in their prayer assignments for the nation.  She is a very strong member of Intercessors for Nigeria and Africa, she is currently the state coordinator of the Wailing Women, an inter-denominational and international women intercessory organization (with headquarter in Nigeria).

 

She is a facilitator and the state coordinator of National Evangelical Commission Outreach (NECO), an organization reaching out to people, groups and communities in Nigeria with the Gospel of Christ.  She is currently a parish pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.  She is a matron to so many charitable and philanthropic organizations within Ondo State.

Socio-Economic Contribution to the Development of Ondo State

 

It must be noted that Mrs. Faturoti’s establishments have provided job opportunities for well over four hundred Nigerians with qualifications ranging from primary six certificates to masters Degrees.  It is on record that her employees receive the highest pay pack among their colleagues in private owned Educational Institutions throughout Ondo State.

 

As a notable philanthropist, she has single handedly paid up many people’s hospital bills, and cost of surgical operation of some indigent citizens.  She has awarded scholarships, free education and vocational training services to so many less privileged children in our society as a means of empowering them and making them to be positively relevant in our society.  All the above are done to the glory of God Almighty.

Her Marriage and Family Life

Assistant Pastor Mrs. Faturoti is happily married to Chief (Arch) Ebun Faturoti; the first registered Architect in Ondo State and the founder and principal partner of Architects Co Design - a foremost Architectural firm in the country.  Their marriage is blessed with six godly children comprising of three males and three females (including a set of twins and many grand children).  All their children are established professionals in various fields but most importantly, they have known the Lord with some of them as ministers of the gospel.  Again, to God alone be all the glory.
